October 2020: Northern Portugal (Part 5): Foz do Douro

Foz is the district of Porto where the Douro flows into the Atlantic Ocean. It stretches northwards from the river mouth through an area that is notable for its lack of the usual gaudy seaside attractions. But with a castle, pristine beaches, great views and places to enjoy a refreshment, snack or meal, we were perfectly happy with what we found.

The journeys out and back by vintage tram provided added interest.
