May/June 2020: Edinburgh Lockdown Easing (Phase 1)

Scotland entered Phase 1 of ‘lockdown easing’ on Thursday 28 May 2020. This introduced a variety of measures, such as the ability to use outdoor spaces for relaxation, the reopening of fast-food outlets and garden centres, and freedom to take part in outdoor activities (such as golf) that do not involve physical contact. (This list is not exhaustive.) The most important factors for me were things that did not change: the five-mile limit for leisure travel remained and public transport was still intended to be for key workers only. As a consequence, my movements during Phase 1 Easing continued to be restricted to areas within walking distance of where I live.
