September 2021: Edinburgh’s Seven Hills (Part 4)

Introduction

This is the fourth in a series of posts, where I record my visits to the classic ‘Seven Hills of Edinburgh’. Please use the tag ‘Edinburgh’s 7 Hills’ to pull these posts together as a group, as they are not being created consecutively. This post features Corstorphine Hill, which lies approximately three miles west of the city centre.

Corstorphine Hill

I knew beforehand that Corstorphine would be the least interesting of the seven, for the simple reason that it is heavily wooded, making viewpoints relatively rare. The southern slopes are home to Edinburgh Zoo, while the summit is marked by Clermiston Tower. My route took me from north to south, using the footpath from Queensferry Road, making for the tower and descending to Corstorphine Road opposite its junction with Balgreen Road.
